Pendidikan Berbasis Adab di Era Digital Dalam Perspektif Komunikasi Islam: Studi Sekolah Adab Insan Mulia Depok
Abstract
The digital era has generated cultural noise that triggers a loss of adab among Generation Alpha, operationally marked by the use of harsh language (semantic noise), elevated tones when arguing, and the decline of non-verbal respect toward authority. In response, Sekolah Adab Insan Mulia (SAIM) Depok implements adab-based education as a form of resolution. This descriptive qualitative study was conducted over five months, involving four key informants (one principal, one teacher, and two parents) through data triangulation, participant observation, and documentation study. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The study produces three main syntheses. First, teachers apply a therapeutic communication strategy characterized by eye-level dialogue, avoidance of verbal coercion, and the modeling of religious practices. Second, SAIM constructs a counter-cultural ecosystem through a “No Gadget” gatekeeping policy based on the concept of Sufaha. Empirically, this policy proves effective as a “moral incubator” within the school environment due to strong parental support. However, critically, this digital isolation presents limitations in scalability and raises concerns regarding students’ readiness to adapt to the broader cyber environment after graduation. Third, the internalization of adab is shown to be effective through the application of four Al-Qaul principles (Sadida, Baligha, Layyina, and Karima). Empirical evidence of this effectiveness is reflected in students’ critical attitudes, where they adopt teachers’ gentleness (Qaulan Layyina) as an ethical benchmark, even to the extent of correcting their parents’ harsh tone at home.
