This study aims to examine the concept of character education according to Imam Al-Ghazali and its relevance to the contemporary era. This research employed a library research approach. Primary and secondary data were collected through library research using documentation as the data collection method. After the data were collected, they were analyzed using qualitative data analysis through two approaches, namely the deductive and inductive methods. The findings indicate that Imam Al-Ghazali's concept of character education is oriented toward the formation of noble character through a balance between knowledge, deeds, and the purification of the soul as an expression of devotion to Allah SWT. The character values presented in Ayyuhal Walad, including religiosity, honesty, tolerance, discipline, hard work, creativity, independence, democracy, nationalism, and patriotism, demonstrate that education should emphasize not only intellectual development but also the moral, spiritual, and social development of learners. This concept remains highly relevant to contemporary character education in Indonesia, particularly through the Character Education Strengthening (PPK) policy and the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, which integrates character values into various learning activities and school habituation programs. The similarity of these objectives indicates that Imam Al-Ghazali's educational thought remains contextual and can serve as a philosophical foundation for addressing the challenges of moral degradation in the modern era. Therefore, Imam Al-Ghazali's concept of character education continues to be highly relevant as a reference for nurturing generations who are faithful, possess noble character, uphold integrity, and demonstrate responsibility toward themselves, society, the nation, and their religion.
