Abstract

This study focuses on the role of fiqh teachers in fostering the practice of shalat fardhu (obligatory prayer) among eighth-grade students at MTs Ashhabul Maimanah Karangkobong. Many students were initially less aware of their religious obligations and often preoccupied with entertainment and social media, which affected their prayer discipline. The objective of this research is to describe the contribution of fiqh teachers in building students’ awareness and consistency in performing shalat fardhu. The study addresses three main questions: (1) How do teachers guide students at MTs Ashhabul Maimanah Karangkobong? (2) What is the condition of students’ shalat fardhu practices? (3) What is the specific role of the fiqh teacher in that guidance? This qualitative research collected data through interviews, observations, and documentation from both teachers and students. The results show that the fiqh teacher has a significant influence on students’ understanding and performance of shalat fardhu. Through consistent guidance and exemplary behavior, teachers help students internalize the importance of prayer. This study affirms the crucial role of religious educators in strengthening students’ spiritual habits in Islamic school.
